In November 2021 Cobra Wind started using SeaRoc’s flagship marine coordination and management software ‘SeaPlanner’ at their Kincardine floating offshore wind farm.
Kincardine, the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm, is using SeaPlanner to manage offshore operations, coordinate personnel, and ensure overall safety and efficiency for the project duration. This is implemented through the use of the Inductions module, Personnel Certification Management, Marine Operations, Permits / RAMS / Transfer of Control, and an AIS feed, to provide the best possible service for wind farm operations and maintenance activities.
The wind farm is located 15 km off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland, and is comprised of five 9.5 MW Vestas turbines.
SeaRoc’s General Manager Neil Pittam said:
“It is exciting to see SeaPlanner being applied at a floating offshore wind farm for the first time. Although it is a small project with only 5 turbines, our client has identified the benefits of our software solution, which allows for small teams to efficiently manage all of their assets”.
Kenny MacBeath, Wind Farm Supervisor of Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm, said:
“SeaPlanner has been a very valuable resource for assisting our operations at Kincardine.
The platform offers a range of tools necessary for the O&M phase of the project, such as the integrated Permit to Work system, the WTG Transfer of Control function, and visibility of vessel movements both around the wind farm and to and from port.
Comprehensive training was provided during setup of the system, and we have been very satisfied with the quality of assistance received since.”
