Project Details

Wave Hub is a subsea electrical grid connection point located approximately 10 nautical miles (16km) north-west of St Ives on the north coast of Cornwall which provides the electrical infrastructure to support developers of Marine Energy Converter devices. Wave Hub allows device developers the opportunity to test devices over several years in a fully monitored marine environment, and export their generated electricity to the local grid, via the Western Power Distribution (WPD) substation at Hayle on the north coast of Cornwall.

SeaRoc undertook the detailed design, testing, commissioning and installation of a DSC capable VHF communications system, at the Western Power Distribution (WPD) substation at Hayle.
