Orkney, United Kingdom
Located in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth. The Tidal Farm intends to deploy up to 398MW of offshore tidal stream turbines.
SeaPlanner has been providing a WebGIS solution to the MeyGen tidal project since 2011, with 24/7 access to data being made available through a secure, web-based portal. MeyGen project personnel utilize the WebGIS as a pre-construction tool ensuring that users always have access to relevant, up-to-date information.
The WebGIS enables project personnel and stakeholders to visualise their data in an easy to access format, without the need for specialist GIS knowledge or costly software licences. In addition, utilizing the WebGIS removes the possibility of non-GIS users’ inadvertently editing data, and ensures that all users are accessing the same, up-to-date information.
The database acts as a centralised location from which the WebGIS accesses all data. For the MeyGen project this allows site data, background data and information from various suppliers (for example BGS, OS, UKHO) to be viewed in a single, user-friendly portal.
User Manuals are available as a Help web page accessible through the WebGIS.
