Walney 1 and 2
SeaPlanner supported offshore personnel transfers between vessels and turbines, tracked using the SeaPlanner automated swipe card system. Vessel movements were logged along with the personnel movements providing real-time display and tracking in the map/chart displays.
SeaRoc Group installed an AIS receiver on the Walney 1 substation, as well as onshore, which provided Marine Coordinators with a panoramic AIS “view” of this area of the Irish Sea. The marine coordinators used the ‘cable-protection guard zone’ functionality to provide alerts when vessels could be at risk of mooring nearby.
As-built data on turbine and cable positions continually fed into the system, ensuring that project teams, onshore and offshore, can had the most up-to-date information available to them through the web interface. The Walney project team have used the system to record as built data for the duration of the project construction.
SeaPlanner supports data-sharing with contractors, including distributed port locations at Barrow and Heysham. This has helped the project improve safety and ensure that project planners, site managers, marine coordinators and project contractors can all interface effectively and efficiently.

We have used SeaPlanner for all our Marine Coordination operations over the past 5 wind farm projects. We have found the system, user friendly, requiring minimal training and familiarisation for new Marine Coordinators. The system is most efficient to manage personnel certification issues of large numbers of personnel (currently over 4000 on this project alone). The support has always been first class, its great having a support team in easy reach on a 24/7 basis on the rare occasion that something does go wrong! I would have no problem with recommending this system was used for further projects.Ian Frazer-Mitchell
