Project Details

In November 2012 SeaRoc Group completed installation of the Narec Offshore Anemometry Hub (NOAH) in 38m water depth offshore Blyth in the role of Principal Contractor. It is our understanding that this installation represents the only fully IEC compliant offshore met-mast currently operational in UK waters. The met-mast, topside deck, foundation and full suite of monitoring equipment had been fabricated and were awaiting installation.

SeaRoc Group’s role involved redesign and planning of the installation methodology and assembly of the various packages required to complete the project including assessment, appointment and management of all contractors. The main sub-contractors included MPI for provision of the vessel, LDD and Menck for the drilling and piling works and Foundocean for the grouting package, as well as a number of other subcontractors. Planning included a number of HIRA workshops to discuss and agree work methodologies in conjunction with assessing and controlling the risks involved with the works. Our Principal Contractor duties were fulfilled throughout the construction phase of the project to handover of the met-mast to the client. Our involvement in this project continues in the role of Operations and Maintenance Contractor.
